Most of the new Australian rosés range between medium sweet and sickly sweet. This one is uncompromisingly dry.

The pale salmon pink is a giveaway that this is no usual Australian rose style. The nod to Europe is also noticeable on the nose which is fragrant and savoury rather than fruity.

But the palate is the real sign that this is no lolly-gobble-bliss-bomb that usually masquerades as rose in Australia. The palate is light, dry and savoury without pronounced fruit flavours. In fact, it not varietal at all, but stylistic, mirroring the roses of Provence and the French south coast.

The wine is quite delicate in both structure and flavour but beautifully balanced. There are hints of cherry and raspberry, but the overall flavour impression is a savoury one. This is a great food wine, made for Mediterranean lunches, light fish dishes and it would be great with oysters.
