WINE FOCUS ~ SYDNEY
Join us at Wine Focus in Sydney on the 21st and 22nd August 2008. A premium wine event Wine Focus is only displaying wineries with a 4 plus star rating from James Halliday. Showing our current release wines along with some back vintages of our Wood Matured Chenin blanc, we will also be taking part in the Chardonnay and Shiraz masterclasses.

30th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Plans are being made for a Gourmet Food and Wine day in Perth to celebrate Will's 30th Vintage.
10 stalls with 10 different Peel Estate Wines and food to match one night in April.

Held on the first Saturday in September, the Great Shiraz Tasting gives people the opportunity to taste and compare a fantastic selection of 6 year old Shiraz. Twenty premium Shiraz wines from Australia and overseas are selected by Will Nairn, the winemaker at Peel Estate, and a panel of wine writers, retailers, wine makers and wine lovers. The selected wines are at least 6 year vintage and Penfold's Grange and Henschke's Hill of Grace are always on the tasting list. A three course lunch is prepared by multi Gold Plate award winning chef Andrew Peaston of Chanterelle at Jessicas. Lunch is followed by a guest speaker. Past guest speakers have included Stephen Henschke, Jim Brayne, James Halliday, Viv Thomson and Trevor Mast.
The 2007 Great Shiraz Tasting has now been and passed. On the 1st September we showcased 20 wines from the 2001 vintage. We were lucky enough to have David Hohnen as our guest speaker. Many wine lovers would know of David from his Cape Mentelle days, but his experience extends beyond that to managing vineyards in Victoria and establishing the well known Cloudy Bay in New Zealand.
The 2008 Great Shiraz Tasting is on the 30th August. The guest speaker this year, we are pleased to announce, is Brian (Prof.) Lynn of Majella (Coonawarra) fame. In a region where Cabernet dominates, Majella's Shiraz stands out, as has been seen most years at our Shiraz tasting.
Tickets are approx. $240 (price may vary slightly depending on wines) and if your a wine buff on a budget this is a great way of tasting some fantastic wines that you may not normally get to try. And if your not on a budget -then you get to try the wines before you make your decision on what you want to fill up your cellar with! Each year, on the 1st Sunday in December, a Jazz day is held at Peel Estate. This year the jazz day is on the 2nd of December. Bring your own picnic or order one from the winery and settle in for the day. Wine and softdrink available for sale all day. Tickets are $15 which includes entry and a free glass of wine. Strictly no BYO wine. Any wine that is not Peel Estate will be confiscated. Children under 12 -free. For more information contact us.
