Current Vintage: 2004

Bright brick red with scarlet edges. There’s a lovely plummy nose, sweet peppers and not too much wood. The palate is quite restrained with lots of plum flavours in a medium-bodied package.

The 04 has all the typical elements of the classic Peel shiraz; intense peppery varietal character with plenty of fine-grained tannins backed by quite a bit of new oak.  There's also the ever-present chalky acidity on the back palate which is a Peel hallmark. At seven years this wine is just starting to open up.
