The nose is lovely. There’s some nice sweet spirit backing up raisin fruit and some warm caramel notes. It’s altogether a very enticing bouquet. This is a light style of tawny port, but with plenty of zip. The spirit really lifts the palate and it fairly dances its way along the finish. There’s some very high quality fruit flavours and the unique dryness that comes from the Portuguese varieties used in the blend. It’s not syrupy but it is still luscious, so you feel you could drink quite a bit of this port. The clean dry finish would make it a great choice with full-flavoured mature cheddar cheese or any soft young blue cheese – in fact, perfect. This is definitely a two-glass minimum port.
